The Rhetoric of Politics

I remember visiting friends in Atlanta Georgia and they had a table with pictures of their family with candles burning on the table the family members with those who were deceased and they called it their ancestor table and from that I was inspired to write water your roots.

The rhetoric of politics is a poem I wrote doing a political campaign and I can no longer remember which one.

Unknown Heroes

Everybody Knows!

The song unknown Heroes came about while researching the life of Colonel Walter Howard loving who was a military band leader who live in the Philippines in Manila. Wow in Manila on tour with Isaac Hayes I came across a statue of Lieutenant Colonel Walter Howard loving in the park across from the Manila Hotel. When I returned to the United States I went to the national archives in Washington DC to research the life Lieutenant Colonel Walter Howard loving. Their was an office called Bureau of colored affairs. He was sent to investigate the killing of Will Butler in Memphis, TN in 1918. A mob beat him to death when he defended a black woman on a bus who refused to move to the back. Her name was Jose Holman. That was the inspiration for that poem.

When I first heard Leonard Cohen sing this song I knew that I wanted to cover it. I wrote to Sony music and got permission to record it.
The words are still very powerful.
